When our hotel booking got cancelled at the last moment, we were struggling to find accommodation. The owner of Shalom Homestay not only promised us a stay for one day but went above and beyond to arrange a temporary place when we couldn’t find anything else, and later shifted us to the guest rooms at the earliest. Truly grateful for his kindness and support. The rooms were clean, aesthetic, and very well maintained. All major tourist spots were within a 7–10 km radius. Pricing was very reasonable compared to the inflated year-end rates elsewhere. He also suggested great food spots. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay and an even better host. This property is located about 6 km from the railway station, but if you’re looking for a good locality and a clean room, this is definitely the place to stay. We checked several hotels near the station, but many were either not clean or had poor reviews, and those close to the station were also quite expensive. We were a group of four, and the owner kindly arranged an extra bed for us. He was very friendly and helpful, even arranging a cab for our travel. He also served us tea and coffee twice without charging anything extra. The property has a large parking area, and the rooms are very clean and beautifully maintained. I visited Shalom homestay with my parents in Oct 2024 and it was the best choice I made so far while booking hotel/ homestay. The rooms and building is very neat, clean and beautiful ,better than any hotel. The owner couple is very supportive, humble and cooperative. They were awake at 3 am to guide us the way and welcome us. I would definitely recommend this stay and i bet you wont regret. I had booked 4 star hotel for my further journey and i I found Shalom homestay room, bedsheets,pillows , mattress to be the best of all..Thank you Shalom, I truly appreciate your hospitality from bottom of my heart. De passage à Madurai, nous avons eu le plaisir d'être accueillis par Monsieur Fernandez qui a été très accommodant car j'avais fait une erreur lors de ma réservation. La chambre était vaste et impeccable ; on y dort très bien, loin de l'agitation du centre ville. C'était aussi un plaisir de déguster les plats de sa femme, qui est une excellente cuisinière. We have a planned family trip to Madurai and we were fortunate to have found a wonderful and comfortable stay at Shalom Homestay which is managed by amazing hosts Mr.Fernandez and madam, The stay was very comfortable and pleasant,we had booked a train at night and hence requested for late checkout which was graciously accepted and we were given our room to stay until 7pm in the evening which was amazing on Mr.Fernandez part and make our trip to Madurai a worthy one. I’ve stayed in several home stays, but by far the best host ever is the one at shalom. We had a very peaceful and refreshing stay during our first visit. My toddler loved the hospitality of the host. I had a very important client meeting to attend during another travel visit to Madurai, the host was kind and empathetic to accommodate me for a short span and understood the importance of situation. I had recently stayed in Shalom Home Stay which provides no less than a home atmosphere as the host Mr. Fernandez Sir treats you as a “guest” not as a customer. I would recommend everyone whether it’s a family/bachelor/couple please do stay at Shalom HomeStay. He is a lovely host and a great gentleman welcoming with a big smile and ma’am, she is very kind and humble . Happy to see such good people around when we cross our paths. Note : 1.Rooms were very clean and hygienic, you have enough space for car parking as well as bike. 2. If you wake up early please go to upstairs and just sit for 15 mins you can see squirrels parrots and other birds chirping in the peaceful atmosphere. 3.Any suggestion any doubts about good restaurants and places in Madurai please ask him, he has very good suggestions . 4. They have their travel and transport contacts as well please reach out to sir. I would like to thank you Sir and Madam whole heartedly for a lovely experience and peaceful stay. If u want to enjoy madurai staying in ur home then choose this homestay. I'm traveling to celebrate my baby first birthday I worried about cooking baby food before coming to this homestay but trust me I really enjoyed making my baby daily routine food u can see our own house environment without worried .rooms are very clean with reasonable price .thankyou so much sir for giving such a pleasant stay. ~ Prathibha T

Rooms are very clean, hosting is good, very comfortable for the family stay, generally I don't like the beds given in so many hotels as they are sponge and gives much discomfort so most of the times I remove mattress and sleep on plain cot..but here mattress and pillows are more comfortable like at home..i totally liked it ...one thing is that it is little far but worth choosing it.. ~ yarrakula s

Very nice place, exactly like shown in pictures. Rooms are very clean with simple yet elegant decor, lot of space for parking. Owners also stay in same building so we can reach out for any issues. We had an excellent stay over the weekend. Calm and serene house in a residential area away from the hustle and bustle of busiest city. Surroundings are very neatly maintained. Amazing person and service. Very loyal and down to earth. We had booked for 2 days but left within 1 day due to family issues. He returned the amount and helped us move out also. Room was cozy and clean. It was like staying at a family place. Very safe and homely place. ~ Chris A

The hosts(husband and wife) are extremely hospitable and see that all your needs are taken care of. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. There is place to park your car.You can park 3 to 4 cars. Breakfast(idli, dosa and coffee) is served in the host's house. Aunty prepares good plum cakes. ~ Sahana G

Hi we visited this palace on April 8th 2024. Very neat , well decorated and great ambiance and quite neighborhood. Service and hospitality top-notch. Will highly recommend for budget stay. We dint get chance to taste their food. But tea was very refreshing. Definitely wil visit next time for sure. ~ Padma S
